Jinks, Taylor County, Butler P.O. since 1843 57 years Born: Nov 7, 1843 in Taylor County [Note: Taylor Co wasn't formed until 1852 so this was probably Marion county] Enlisted: Aug 26, 1861 at Butler GA, Company F 27th GA Regiment Remained: Til close of the war nearly four yers Discharged: 2 April 1865 at Greensboro, NC Present at surrender: Yes If not present, state specifically where you wer, when you left, etc. "I was with my Command". Present able to earn per annum: About $25.00 Occupation since 1865: Farming Grounds: Infirmity and Poverty I have catarch of right lung with hemmorhages; my feet were frost bitten during the war. The toes are drawn under so I can't walk much. Can't do but little work. Property: None Property: 1894-1899- None at all Lived in Taylor Co during those years, returned no property for taxation Supported 1898-1899: From proceeds of land belonging to my wife Cost of support: About $100.00. I contributed $25.00 Employment 1898-1899: Farming in 1898-1899. Nothing received in pay Family: Yes, Wife and one child and 1 orphan granchild. My wife has a lot of poore piney woods land worth $300 No receiving any pension. Never applied for pension before. T.L. Jinks 22 Oct 1900 J.E. Davant, Ordinary WITNESS J.R. Flurry reside in Taylor Co. [Note: John R. Flurry] Known T.L. Jinks forty years He resides in Taylor County more tahn 40 years since 1860 He enlisted summer of 1861 at Butler Ga Co F 27 GA Reg. I was with him. Company A - same division He performed regular duty: Till close of war Surrendered: At Greensboro, NC in April 1865 I left March 27, 1865 Fayetteville NC He was present when I left March 27, 1865 Property Jinks has: None at all. I live near him. Conveyed no property in last 4 years. Had no property during that time Jinks occupation: Farming but he is now unable to do manual labor. He is unable [to support himself] because his feet have been frostbitten so he can't work and he has cataract of lungs. Supported himself in past 4 years from the recipt of a small farm owned by his wife. Very little -- not as much as one fourth [his contribution to support] His condition: He has catarrach of lungs so has hemorrhages. He can't h (can't make out these words). His feet have been so injured from frost bite that he can't do farm labor. J.R.Flurry 22 Oct 1900 J.E. Davant WITNESS Personally came before me, T.L. Waters, who being sworn according to law says: My name is T.L. Waters. I live in Taylor County. I have known T.L. Jinks more 40 years. He lives in Taylor County. T.L. Jinks was a member of Company F 27th Ga Reg. I belonged to Company G of the 6th GA Regiment. I was with T.L. Jinks at the surrender at Greensboro, NC. I saw him and know that h was with his command when they surrendered. T.L. Waters Sworn to & subscribed before me this 10th day of Nov 1900. J.E. Davant, Ordinary Affadavit of Physician J.G. White, a physician in Taylor County, examined T.L. Jinks He suffers with Psoriasis in the toes of both feet also slight arterioschlerosis and bronchial catarrh in right lung. J.G. White, M.D. W.W. Edwards, M.D. 11 Nov 1900 J.E. Davant Ordinary's Certificate J.E. Davant, Ordinary, certifies T.L. Jinks lives in Taylor County since Jan 1890 and that the witnesses: J.R. Flurrey and T.L.
