THE BUTLER HERALD, TUESDAY, MAR. 8, 1898 A large number of the old veterans living in the western and southern portion of the county request that there be a meeting of Camp Reynolds held in Butler at an early day. There are many who wish to join and attend the meeting but on account of their feeble condition they cannot go to Reynolds. Butler being a central location we trust this request will be granted. There are perhaps, more old veterans living in the western and southern portion of the county than in any other and it would be a source of great pleasure to them to all meet once more. We hope the president will appoint a meeting in Butler soon. THE BUTLER HERALD, TUESDAY, MAR. 15,1898 We hope to see a very large crowd of old veterans here next Saturday as that is the day for Camp Reynolds to meet. We would be glad for all the boys to come as they have been requested to meet and organize a camp of sons of veterans. Don't forget the time, Saturday, March 19th at P. B. Griffith's warehouse. THE BUTLER HERALD, TUESDAY, APRIL 5, 1898. NOTICE The Reynolds Camp Sons of Veterans will please meet at P. B. Griffith's warehouse in Reynolds, Ga., Saturday, April 9th. The Butler Herald, Tuesday, Aug. 2, 1898 The following young ladies who attended the reunion of Confederate Veterans as Sponsor and maids of honor of the Taylor County Veterans have all returned and report a most delightful trip. Sponsor, Miss Dollie Parish; the maids of honor were Misses Ruby Monk, Hattie Carter, Mary Lizzie Fountain and Eviyn Hunter. No camp could surpass the Reynolds Camp for the beauty and charming manners of her Sponsor and maids of honor. They were the recipients of many favors during their visit to Atlanta. The Butler Herald, Tuesday. Aug. 9, 1898. The distinguished Judge A. J. Booty and wife of Fort Worth Texas, visited Dr. and Mrs. J. W. Rogers, of Reynolds last week, who is a kinsman of the latter. The Judge attended the re-union of the U. C. Vs., at Atlanta and before his return home was renewing his boyhood acquaintances. He is a native Georgian but moved to Texas when he was thirteen years old. He studied law and practiced his profession at Marshal, Texas; was elected to the Supreme Bench which position he filled for years. Judge Booty and wife paid Butler a pleasant visit on Thursday and made many acquaintances while here. REUNION NOVEMBER 22-26 1899 The Butler Herald, Tuesday, Dec. 5, 1899. Messrs. H. A. Paris and W. I. Powell attended the reunion of Confederate Veterans at Savannah on November 22-26. They reported a most delightful time. The committee on entertainment left nothing undone for the pleasure and comfort of the visitors and made one feel that though strangers all were friends. We met our old friend P. M. Adams formerly of this place and to him especially is due a large share of our enjoyment. Mr. Adams resides in Guyton but runs a large establishment in Savannah. We also met Dr. R. Roach who contributed largely to our pleasure. By invitation we spent most of our time at his palatial home. Dr. Roach is well known through this part of the state as a gentleman of great personal worth and character. We also met our old friends Mrs. Florence Behenken and Mrs. Oliver, of that city, two most beautiful and accomplished ladies whose kindness and attention to us will ever be remembered. Both Mr. Paris and Mr. Powell vote Savannah and her citizens a grand old city by the sea. Please advise John R. Adams, P. 0. Box 5059, Warner Robins, Ga. 31099. If you have any information about any of the veterans of Camp Reynolds. Also advise if you have any knowledge of the picture on page 8. This was taken of Confederate Veterans at the Taylor County Court House, year unknown.
