Affidavit to be Made by the Widow
STATE OF GEORGIA
County of Taylor: 

In person came before me, the
undersigned Ordinary in and for the County of Taylor,
Mrs. T. J. Watson, who being sworn according to law, says
under oath that she is the widow of Elijah Watson, who
was a soldier in the service of the Confederate States,
and served as a member of Company F, of the 27th Regiment
of Georgia Volunteers; that he enlisted in said service
on or about the 26 day of August 1861, and was in the
Army up to October 1861. That while in the Army, he was
on the ________ day of_________186__(See Note No. l).

Had measles while in camp at Camp Stevens, in the State
of Ga. and died at said camp from the effects of said
disease about the 15th day of October 1861. Deponent
further swears that she was the wife of said deceased
soldier during his term of service in the Army, and that
she has never married since his death; that she became
his wife on the 19th day of June 1958, and that she has
resided in Georgia continuously since the 24 day of May
1843; that Georgia is her home, and was such on the 23rd
day of December, 1890, and since said date she has not
lived in any other State or locality. Deponent, as the
widow of said deceased soldier husband, applies for the
pension provided by Act of the General Assemby of
Georgia, approved December 23rd, 1890, for the pension
year ending February 15th, 1891, and herewith tenders the
proof of her right to receive the allowance granted by
said Act.

Sworn to and subscribed before me, this the 7th day of
April, 1891 M. H. Riley Ordinary signed T.J. Watson

Note: T. J. Watson's maiden name was Tabitha Jane Fowler,
daughter of Jesse and Henrietta Gilley Fowler of Talbot
County and she married Elijah Watson in that county.
Their only child Josephine was born April 1861. Josephine
married Anderson Ranow and they were my ggrandparents.
Elijah was the son of Michael Julius Watson and Sarah
Royal.
