Fickling Destroyed By Fire Fire has again visited our town and laid the beautiful home of Dr. C.F. Fickling in ashes. The alarm of fire was sounded just before twelve o’clock Tuesday night, the fire having originated in the garage, which was on the premises. Soon the dwelling caught near the top of the roof, which being very steep, it was almost impossible to extinguish and soon the entire building was aflame and completely consumed. As soon as the alarm of fire was given, the good people of Butler, ever ready and willing, quickly responded, saving practically all the furniture, though some in a damaged condition. The people of Butler are to be complimented; though wrapped in slumber at the dead hour of the night, readily arose and put forth heroic efforts to save from destruction the property which was menaced. The home of Dr. Fickling was one of the prettiest in town and was built only a few years ago, and while partly covered by insurance, the loss will fall very heavy on him, and especially so at this time with building material so very high. He was fortunate in saving his two cars which were in the garage, also his fine cow. Dr. Fickling has the sympathy of a host of friends in this, his financial misfortune.
