Mr. Jinks remained perfectly quiet until yesterday, when he brought one of the party to town for imprisonment. In the preliminary trial today he plead guilty and will be returned to jail until the next term of court. It is said that there were two others engaged in it. The meat has been found and carried back to the smoke-house of Mr. Jinks. The Atlanta Constitution Thursday, May 14, 1885 Crime in Taylor Butler, May 13 [Special] Charlie Montfort, colored, was convicted today of burglary and sent to jail on his own confession. Mr. J.F. Jinks had thirteen sides of meat stolen from his smokehouse Saturday night.Searching for it Sunday they found twelve sides buried about three hundred yards from the house. That night they waited for the thief, and when he come to get his stolen meat they fired on him, but failed to get him. Yesterday he was arrested in town, and confessed to the crime.
