Hobbs, operating a large plantation in Macon County on the Flint River road was shot Sunday afternoon at his home by his brother-in-law, Clifford McDaniel. Mr. McDaniel is a tenant on the farm of Mr. Hobbs and for some reason had occasion to go to his house which is situated just to the rear of the Hobbs home and after an altercation, the cause of which is unknown, McDaniel shot Hobbs with a shotgun. Mr. Hobbs was standing on the ground at the doorsteps and McDaniel shot him while standing in the doorway. Mr. Hobbs was rushed to the Macon Hospital in Goddard's ambulance where he died at three o'clock Monday morning. Funeral services will be held in the country cemetery Tuesday it is understood. Mr. Hobbs is survived by his wife who was a sister of Clifford McDaniel, and by three sons and a daughter. It is understood that McDaniel has been placed in Macon County jail.
