A stranger sojourneying here took occasion to visit the beautiful homestead of 
Mr. W.T. Cosby located five miles north of this place one day last week and 
gave us the following information: Mr. Cosby has some six hundred acres 
enclosed, the land lying beautifully so that his variegated crops can be 
plainly seen from his dwelling – Howard being visible from the top of his water 
tower.  Mr. Cosby has added a great many improved milch cows recently to his 
dairy.  He says he observed 97 pounds of the nicest butter put in prints 
(pints?) from one day’s milking, netted him 20 cents per pound.  The Messrs. 
Eubanks, dairy managers for Mr. Cosby, are two clever gentlemen and fully 
understand their business, and judging from the royal treatment from the 
ladies – Mrs. Cosby, her charming daughters – Misses Annie and Olive, and 
lastly the turkey dinner.   There are no more clever or hospitable people in 
Georgia.  Mr. Cosby uses the Delaya separator and milks something like fifty 
cows.  The cows all know their separate names and seem to know their particular 
stall.  The calves are taken away from their mothers at a tender age and 
learned to drink the fresh milk and then sold to the butchers for veal.

Mr. T.E. Arrington and Mr. O.F. Mathews went over to Mr. Cosby’s Sunday evening 
to view his dairy farm.  Mr. Mathews gives Mr. Cosby much praise for his fine 
cows and his lovely home so conveniently arranged.  He reports a pleasant 
evening as Mr. Cosby has other attractions judging from the boys who were on 
hand.
