Watson, living a few miles south of Howard, is not only a good farmer but is making a success at sheep raising. Mr. Watson shipped to Columbus a few days ago 885 pounds of clear wool, of this seasons clipping for which he realized 22 cents. Mr. Watson also shipped a like amount to Columbus last year for which he received 27 cents. This far surpasses raising cotton. But then farmers say they cannot raise sheep on account of dogs. We think the whole country would be better off with at least one-half or two-thirds less dogs and more sheep and goats. Additional Comments: Note: Perry C. Watson was a brother of my great-great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Watson Layfield. I would like to correspond with anyone who is researching these families.
