It’s like this: Both gentlemen live in the same house at 874 First Street. Mr. Layfield’s little daughter won a donkey and cart given as a prize by the Drum and Bugle Corps during the jubilee. Now Mr. Layfield is going around telling that he can take the donkey and give Mr. Johnson a block start in his little jitney auto and pass him in three minutes. Friends of both parties are doing their derndest, but the future looks dark and forbidding. – Macon Telegraph Mr. Layfield is a Butler reared boy. Isn’t it nice to see the name of one of our boys in the editorial column of a great daily newspaper like the Telegraph. Additional Comments: Note: My great-grandfather was Ed Layfield and he was reared in Taylor County, however I'm not certain that this is him. He was the son of James Monroe and Mary Watson Layfield, however I know there were other Layfields in this area. I don't know if he ever lived in Macon, Ga. Please contact me if you have any information pertaining to this gentleman. Thanks.
