He is an experienced baker, and we think we can safely assure our people that the bakery will be a permanent enterprise. The building and oven is well arranged and Mr. Salzer has already shown his skill as a baker by furnishing our people with excellent bread. The Butler Herald Tuesday, October 29, 1889 Page Three The Bakery An Assured Success As briefly stated heretofore Mr. Charles Salzer, of Macon, an experienced baker has reestablished the bakery and now invites the public to give him their earnest support. His baking cannot be excelled in any market, and will keep constantly on hand fresh breads, cakes, pies, etc. to suit all classes of customers, which will be sold at less than Macon prices if possible. To be successful however in this enterprise it is very important that our people should give it liberal patronage, for there is no enterprise that can succeed without the aid of the citizens of the community. Mr. E.B. Waters has invested a large amount of money in fitting up the bakery and furnishing it with conveniences; now let us as citizens who appreciate his liberality, sustain those whom he has placed at the head of this enterprise. Mr. Salzer is a gentleman who has a large family to support and wishes to move them to Butler and make this their home if he meets with the encouragement he desires. We would earnestly request Howard, Reynolds, and other towns near us to patronize and help to sustain this enterprise as it will be a great benefit to all. The benefit our ladies would derive from this bakery would be incalculable and it is just the thing every town needs. Additional Comments: Note: There is another article concerning Charles Salzer from an issue of the The Herald dated Sept. 9, 1913. It is also posted to the Taylor County newspaper page.
