Birthday Party

Miss Mellie Shumate was honoree at a birthday party Saturday evening which 
celebrated her 18th birthday.

Games were played until a late hour when the guests were ushered into the 
dining room where they were served with sandwiches, pickle, hot chocolate and 
cake which were served by Jackie and Mrs. Shumate.  The colors, red and green, 
were carried out in the decorations of the dining room, which was beautiful 
with red autumn lilies and a background of green.

Those present were: Misses Inez Jarrell, Marilu Gassett, Mary E. and Phronie 
Haywood, Messrs. Herburt (Herbert?) Booth, M.T. Gaultney, Jr., Luke Adams and 
Mercer Smith.

Miss Shumate received several nice presents.
