Judge Colbert Critically Ill

Just after conversing with his family and friends, and enjoying his midday meal 
yesterday Judge Colbert was taken suddenly and violently ill, supposedly from 
acute indigestion.  All the afternoon and night he lay in an unconscious 
condition.  During the early part of the night hope of recovery seemed almost 
improbable.  We are pleased to learn, however, this morning that his condition 
is some better.  Consciousness seems to be recovering and the Judge may yet 
recover.  He is a man of most remarkable vitality which has been evidenced 
through former affliction being a paralytic from childhood and the victim of 
another severe shock two years ago since which time he has been confined to his 
home.

Judge Colbert is one of the oldest and best known citizens of Butler and his 
illness is very much deplored.

Local Paragraphs

The improvement in Judge Colbert’s health for the past week has been very 
gratifying to his many friends.  He was able to be out of bed all day Sunday 
and continues to improve.  His brother, Mr. A.J. Colbert, of Macon, spent 
Wednesday at his bedside.

Judge O.M. Colbert spent Thursday afternoon at the courthouse and on the 
streets shaking hands with his many friends all of whom cordially welcomed his 
presence.  He has been in very feeble health for sometime and his improved 
condition is very gratifying to his many friends.
