Mr. J.C. Carter, who lives at Hampton Spring, has a well a few feet deep that 
oil accumulates in so that the water is unfit to use.  Evidences of it can be 
found elsewhere on his land also on the Hampton property, on which the famous 
Hampton Sulphur Spring is located. – Butler Herald
