The number of years the writer is unable to say; anyway Mr. McDaniel is one year older. The parlor where the ladies were entertained was effectively decorated with chrysanthemums of various colors. A bright fire burned in the open fireplace of the front room where the gentlemen were ushered. The morning and afternoon were pleasantly taken up with music, cards, etc. Prof. Childs, a very fine musician, of Macon being present. Exactly at twelve o’clock fourteen men were ushered into the dining room where they made slaves of themselves for fully sixty minutes, devouring everything that came their way. In the center of the table stood a large vase of chrysanthemums, surrounded by fruits, turkey, cranberries, salads, etc., covered the surface in every direction. Six ladies also enjoyed the sumptuous feast, each declared that their host and hostess are unequaled both in entertaining and planning a birthday and Thanksgiving dinner. Guests from Reynolds were: Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Powell, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ogburn and Mr. Jim Draughon.
