However the trip proved most too much for me and have been sick for several days, but thanks to the Great Physician, and also Dr. Gordy, I am now able to be up. I had a glorious visit, both spiritually and socially, with my sons and families and one dear sister and family. It was indeed a happy reunion with these and other loved ones. During my trip I visited the following places: Alma, Bardwell, Rice, Ennis, Fort Worth, Bryson and northwest Texas, Roff and Hickory, Okla. and thence to Jerymn*, Texas, where my eldest son resides. He has a beautiful home located in a valley almost surrounded by mountains, and fairly good crops. Crops in this part of Texas were almost a failure last year owing to the dry weather. While visiting in Jermyn* a great revival meeting was in progress which was indeed a feast to my soul. Next I visited my son in Oklahoma. He lives in a very rocky country near a large cattle and horse ranch. He raises corn, forage for stock, such as millet, sorghum, caffa corn, meadow hay; also some cotton. However, his cotton crop was almost a failure which was a general complaint everywhere I visited. Since leaving Oklahoma, I have received the sad intelligence of affliction of my son, who has almost lost the use of his lower limbs. Only being able to walk by the aid of crutches. Speaking of the short crops in Texas and Oklahoma, I was in Rice, Tex., just a few days before leaving for home and up to that date 1600 bales of cotton had been ginned, and still the people are complaining of short crops. Now, Mr. Editor, I have only given you a short sketch of my trip, but hope at an early date to tell you more of Texas and Oklahoma. Mrs. A.H. Bazemore *Both spellings were included for this town. I have no idea which one is correct. The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 17, 1912 Page Four Local Paragraphs After spending several weeks in Texas Mrs. Belle Jinks Bazemore has returned home. She had not been at home but a few days when she was stricken with acute indigestion from which she has suffered intensely for the past week.
