TAYLOR COUNTY GA Newspaper Abstracts File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carla Miles milescng@juno.com http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/taylor/newspapers/railroad.txt The Columbus Enquirer-Sun Thursday, April 9, 1903 Superior Court of Taylor County Butler News and Notes, The Town Hopeful of Getting The Atlantic & Birmingham R.R. Butler, Ga., April 6-(Special) No cases of special importance have been tried in Taylor County Court this week. Judge Butt called court to order Monday morning, and has presided with his usual ability and impartiality. Although the weather has been bad, the attendance upon court has been large. Among the visiting attorneys are M.D. Sanderich, of Thomaston, J.J. Bull of Talbotton, J.A. Noyes of Atlanta, A.P. Persons of Talbotton, Emmett Houser, of Fort Valley, and H.L. Bryant of Fort Valley. Attorneys J.T. Allen of Thomaston, and W.E. Simmons of Lawrenceville who have been attending court, left for home this morning. Mr. J.A. Wesson is the new agent of the Central Railway at Butler. He has been here some weeks, and is giving general satisfaction to the patrons of the road at this point. He came here from Montezuma, where he was chief clerk of Central. The Seeley house is crowded this week and guests have been favored with the usual excellent accommodations. The many Columbus friends of Mrs. Seeley will be glad to know that she is recovering from her lengthy illness, and will probably be fully restored to her usual health at an early date. Miss Mamie Seeley, the charming daughter of Mr. A.H. Seeley, of Howard, has been here during her illness. Butler is greatly in hopes of capturing the Atlantic & Birmingham road. The road has now been completed to Montezuma and cars are running at its Cordele, Vienna and Montgomery extension. The road is headed this way and Butler is confident of getting it. From this point the road will be built on to Birmingham, via LaGrange. From Montezuma the road will come to Butler via Oglethorpe. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
