A Fort Gordon private was killed and five companions injured about 2 a.m. 
Thursday when the car in which they were riding overturned in Highway 78, 100 
yards east of the post's gate 1.
The dead man was identified by Richmond County deputies as Pvt. John V Ritter, 
20, of Rte. 2 Mauk, Ga.
Injured in the mishap were Pvt. Arthur Rogers, 20; Cpl Maurice Allred, 18; 
Pfc. Lawrence W Smith. 20; Sp-4 William Gray, 22, and Pvt. Donald Burdette, 20.
