Taylor COUNTY GA Adams, Mrs. Bessie File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Angela Covington http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/taylor/obits/adamsb2.txt Taylor Man Held in Fatal Shooting of Farmer’s Wife BUTLER, Ga., April 18- Orrin Scott, 50, was being held without bond in the Taylor county jail here tonight after a coroner’s jury decided that the fatal shooting of Mrs. Bessie Adams in the yard of her home near here last night constituted “murder”, Coroner J.D. Cooke reported. No preliminary hearing had been set late tonight. Two other men, Billy Watson and Gurvis Lloyd, were released today under $500 bonds each as material witnesses, the coroner reported. Mrs. Adams, wife of Rayford Adams, Taylor county farmer, was shot in the head early last night. There were no “eye witnesses”, the coroner reported, but several people, including the three arrested, were near the scene of the shooting. Coroner Cooke reported that there had been an “argument” prior to the shooting. Mrs. Adams was found by her husband, he said. The coroner’s jury found that Mrs. Adams “came to her death…. in the yard of her home by the blast of a shotgun in the hands of the man at the truck and facing the house murder.” ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
