Barrow, was born in Macon County, Georgia, June 10, 1895 and died June 14, 1916. It will be seen from these dates that he had just reached the estate of manhood being 21 years and four days old. He was converted when eight years of age and united with the Methodist church. He was a member of the Men’s Bible Class and a regular Sunday School attendant. His boyhood school days were spent at Coleman Institute in Reynolds. Upon leaving the high school he entered the University of Georgia in the fall of 1913 and was a student there during the years of 1914-15. Returning home he secured a position in the store of his older brothers, which he filled acceptably up to the time of his death. William was a deservedly popular young man – sunny hearted he carried sunshine everywhere he went. Courteous, kind and attentive he impressed favorably all with whom he came in contact. Of a friendly spirit he made friends easily and held them to him. The sorrow that pierced every heart and the gloom that settled over Reynolds and community upon the announcement of his death cannot be expressed in words. Everyone suffered sincerely with the stricken mother, sisters and brothers. Just how William was loved and appreciated was shown in many ways, but displayed best possibly by the crowded church on the occasion of his funeral and beautiful floral offerings covering his casket. His funeral was conducted by his pastor in the Methodist church assisted by Revs. J.P. Chatfield and O.B. Chester of Columbus. Eight of his young men friends bore his body to its last resting place in the city cemetery and laid him to rest there until the resurrection morning. Farewell, dear boy, until we meet again. May the God of all grace comfort, strengthen and help the brokenhearted mother, sisters and brothers. H.W.
