Tribute to Robert Bartlett

On October 25, 1918, the Death Angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.M.
Bartlett and took away their loving son, Robert.  He had been ill only a few
days with pneumonia following influenza.

Thus as the budded rose would unfold into the beauty and fragrance of a full
developed flower lending brightness and gladness to this world, so it was with
Robert – sixteen years of age – just as his life was unfolding into strength and
glory of young manhood, thereby adding joy to the family circle and happiness
and sunshine to his many loved ones.

Robert was the light and blessing of his home and scattered a ray of sunshine
everywhere he went, dispersing the gloom of everyone he met, and always looking
on the bright side of life.  Oh, God, how hard it is!  But we yield with a
trusting heart, Father.  Though the thorn that pierces our hearts to the depths,
there blooms the fragrant flower of Christian comfort, and thru our tears,
falling thick and fast, there beams the sweet splendor from that star of
Heavenly Hope which lighted his way through the last hours of suffering and
death to his glorious home of the soul.

He leaves a mother and father, three brothers, two sisters and a large number of
relatives and friends to mourn their loss.

The funeral service was conducted at the family residence in Butler, interment
taking place in Bethel cemetery.
