Byrd, Tuesday night after an illness of several days. While her death was not unexpected, yet her going has cast a gloom over the entire community in which she lived. She had been a resident of Panhandle district from early childhood, and the quiet Christian graces which dominated her life, the virtues of her every day life in the home and among her neighbors won for herself a name which is rather to be chosen than great riches. She was a true Christian woman in every walk of life. She had been a member of the Methodist church at Crowells since her childhood, and not only loyal to the church, but to the cause of Christ and the advancement of His Kingdom. Her remains were interred in the Crowells cemetery yesterday afternoon, the funeral service conducted by Rev. J.T. Adams, in the presence of many sorrowing relatives and a host of sympathizing friends. She is survived by one son, Mr. R.E. Byrd, four daughters, Mrs. G.J. Young, Mrs. T.D. Philmon, Mrs. J.A. Philmon, Mrs. H.W. Windham; one brother, Mr. W.E. Dixon, of Phenix City, Ala. The Butler Herald Thursday, June 26, 1919 Page Three Card of Thanks We wish to express our heartfelt appreciation and thanks to our many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted in word or deed or sympathy with us in our affliction during the sickness and death of our mother, Mrs. Mary L.
