Currington, Sr. age 82, of Mauk, Ga died Sunday, November 22, 1998 at St. Francis Hospital, Columbus, GA. Funeral services were Tuesday at Moores Chapel Baptist Church in Marion County with burial in Pine Level Cemetery, Taylor County, GA. Mr. Currington was born August 14, 1916 in Taylor County, the son of Henry H. and Eunice Montgomery Currington. He had lived in Taylor County all of his life and retired as a farmer. He was a member of Moores Chapel Baptist Church, and served in 82nd Airborne during World War II. He served during D- Day and was awarded a Purple Heart. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Currington of Mauk, GA, three sons, Henry H. "Sam" Currington, Jr. of Berea, Kentucky, Ed Currington of Mauk, GA and Greg Currington of Montezuma, GA, three daughters, Mary Grimsley and Connie Hammock both of Ellaville, GA and Joann Albritton of Butler, GA, one brother, Thurman Currington of Mauk, GA, one sister, Elizabeth Dean of Markleybury, Penn, and sixteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
