Duke Mr. H.T. Duke, familiarly known as Tom Duke, about 52 years of age, died Saturday the 17th inst., at four o’clock at his home near Charing following a brief illness of pneumonia. Mr. Duke was a life-long citizen of this section of the county, was a very industrious and prosperous farmer, having distinguished himself by raising the largest hog ever grown in Taylor County. Two years ago he butchered one that its net weight was eight hundred and sixty six lbs. Funeral service was conducted at the Bloodworth cemetery Sunday afternoon at 3 o’clock by Rev. W.H. Emmerson surrounded by a large concourse of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. He leaves seven children his wife having preceded him to the grave three years ago. He also leaves some of the most valuable property in this section.
