Warren Garrett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Garrett, was born in Stewart County, October 10, 1856, moved with his parents to Taylor County in early life. Married Miss Virginia E. Scott, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Washington Scott, December 5, 1875, and died in Forsyth, Ga., Feb. 12, 1917. Two of these epochs in a person’s life tell largely what the life shall be – birth and marriage. Fortunately for Mr. Garrett he was born of Christian parents, and grew up under the influence of a godly father and consecrated Christian mother, and that influence followed him through life, so that by the gracious operation of God’s Holy Spirit and in answer to fervent prayers ascending to the Father through faith. Mr. Garrett united with the Methodist church at Pleasant Hill quite a number of years ago and as far as the writer knows, from that time on, his was an exemplary Christian life, and passed away in the conscious possession of a saving faith. Mr. Garrett lived in Taylor County for a number of years, but for the last several years he had lived in, or near Forsyth, where his life was such to win the confidence and respect of a large circle of friends. Mr. Garrett leaves three brothers, Messrs. W.H. and E.O. Garrett of this county, and S.N. Garrett, of West Point, also one sister, Mrs. Lura Garrett, of near Charing. He also leaves a brokenhearted wife, five sons, Messrs. Osey, Flem, Erney, Charlie and Eli Garrett and two daughters, Mrs. Cliff Garrett and Mrs. Ruth Ard to mourn the loss of a fond brother, a kind husband and indulgent father.
