Harris Died Tuesday Afternoon Again grim monster Death has visited our county and taken from among us a most useful, worthy and greatly admired citizen, Mr. Thomas J. Harris, which sad event occurred at his residence nine miles north of Butler at three o’clock Tuesday afternoon after an illness of ten days from pneumonia followed by other complications. Mr. Harris was about 43 years old a native of this county, the son of Mr. James Harris. Besides his father he is survived by a wife and three sons the eldest being about 18 years of age, the youngest about 13. He was a strong, robust man prior to his recent illness and his death came as a big shock and surprise to his many friends in the county and elsewhere. Mr. Harris was a man of character and ability, who enjoyed the confidence and esteem of a large host of friends and his death is very much regretted by all, who extend their sincere sympathy to his loved ones. In every walk of life he did his duty honestly and faithfully. He was steadfast and true in his friendship. Nothing was too good for those he called his friends. He was a man of noble impulses and good deeds. He had large land interests in the county and was very successful as a farmer and leaves his family in comfortable circumstances. His remains were interred in the Riley cemetery Wednesday at 11 o’clock. The funeral being attended by an unusually large assemblage of sorrowing friends as a testimony of high esteem, services being conducted by his life-long friend and constant associate, Rev. M.T. Gaultney, assisted by Rev. L.A. Harrell. This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
