Harris and took from there the most treasured member of the family - the wife, mother and sister. Mrs. Harris had been in feeble health for eight months, but she bore her afflictions patiently; and when her children began to grieve in her presence she would say: "Don't weep for me, dear children for I will have to leave you, I can't be with you much longer." Mrs. Harris, nee Williamson was born Oct 17th, 1835 and on Aug 15th, 1850 at the age of 14 years she was happily married to Mr. Joshua J. Harris, to whom she was a faithful companion until August the 14th, 1899. Death ended her earthly cares, leaving her sorrowing companion to battle the cold world alone. She was the mother of eleven children, ten of them survive her. One preceded her to the grave a few years ago. Mrs. Harris joined the Missionary Baptist church in early life and from that union with the church till her death she lived a life of an exemplary Christian. Her daily walk of life was as she died, a Christian. It was my good fortune to know this excellent woman for several years previous to her death, and can truthfully say she has no enemies, but number her friends by the score. Mrs. Harris possessed a noble, cheerful disposition. She had no favorites among her children; not even among her friends, but treated all the same. Her remains were interred in the cemetery at Mt. Pisgah on Tuesday Aug 15th. Burial services were conducted by Rev. A.S. Dix. A Friend. NOTE: Amanda Harris Oct 17, 1835 - Aug 14, 1899
