W. M. HILL PIONEER AND ESTEEMED CITIZEN DEAD Death, which came suddenly Sunday afternoon about 4 o'clock, removed from the stage of action one of Taylor County's oldest and most beloved citizens in the passing of Mr. W. M. Hill, at his home near Ideal. Mr. Hill was stricken with a heart attack while seated around the fireside of his home surrounded by his family Sunday afternoon and died suddenly. Mr. Hill, who was 70 years of age was born and reared in Taylor County. He was reared on and engaged in farming all of his life in the same section of the county in which he died and enjoyed the reputation of being successful in this pursuit. He was the best of neighbors and was known as a friend to those in trouble and in need, and it is said that many were helped by him and who had failed to find assistance from anyone else. He stood for pure citizenship and the highest moral standard. He was a living example of these principles, and the people loved him for his honesty of purpose and uncompromising loyalty, and his taking away is a serious loss not only to his community but to the county as well. Mr Hill was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and died with the assurance of his faith. Surviving Mr. Hill are his widow, three sons, two daughters, one brother and one sister, besides hosts of relatives and devoted friends. The children all of whom are grown, are: Mr. W. G. Hill, a prominent resident and merchant of Butler; A. O. Hill, of Oglethorpe; W. L. Hill, of Baltimore, Md; Mrs. J. M. Berry of Macon; and Mrs. P. H. S. English, of Waycross; Mr. S. Hill and Mrs. W. B. Ray, both of this county, are the brother and sister referred to. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. H. Emmerson at Prosperity Churh and cemetery Wednesday morning, funeral arrangements being in charge of J. W. Edwards, II, for Edwards Brothers funeral directors of this city.
