Taylor COUNTY GA Obits Hobbs, Drewsilla File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by Carla Miles milescng@juno.com http://files.usgwarchives.net/ga/taylor/obits/hobbs.txt The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 2, 1913 Sacred to the Memory of Mrs. Drewsilla Hobbs On June 3, 1913 the death angel visited the home of Mr. R.S. Hobbs and took from them their loving mother, Mrs. Drewsilla Hobbs, better known as "Aunt Drew". The writer finds it a more sorrowful task to write of the death of this good woman, from the fact that we have known her from our earliest childhood, and she was as noble a woman as this world could afford. She was always the same pious, patient, forbearing, incorruptable woman all the time. "Aunt Drew" greeted all with a smile and kind word. She will not only be missed in her home but in the community and the county. She was a mother to the motherless and a friend to the needy. She was ever ready to lend a helping hand; a devoted wife and loving mother. She was sick a long time, but was confined to her bed only a short while and became almost helpless although she never complained at her feeble state; she bore it with patience and fortitude and greeted death as a welcome visitor. Gathered around the death bed were the weeping ones who knew that the mild spring sun which had so gently kissed her brow for seventy-nine summers would never rise for her again. All was do! ne that was in the power of her loved ones to detain the grim reaper called Death and keep her longer. Tis hard to give thee up, but God knows best and doeth all things well. Now that we know the dear voice is stilled forever we may thank God that she was spared to us these many years that we can cherish the dear remembrance of her for the kind and noble deeds she did. God has called her home, and Oh, may she wear the brightest of crowns. Her remains were interred at the Bloodsworth Cemetery near Charing Wednesday, June 4th, where a large concourse of friends had gathered around the grave to steal a final glimpse of their departed friend and to say respects to her memory for her many good deeds done on this earth. She leaves a son and daughter to mourn their loss. We extend our most sincere sympathy to the stricken ones. May the Lord comfort them. ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
