Local News

Aunt Nancy Lawson, one of the truest types of the antebellum negroes and a woman
whose influence among her race has had a very wholesome effect upon the present
generation, died Tuesday night at her home in Butler.  She was 85 years of age
and had been in feeble health for some time.  For quite a number of years, and
until her strength failed her, she was a faithful servant in the home of Hon.
C.H. Neisler, who was a mark of appreciation of her services, has supported her
in her years of feebleness, paid her funeral expenses and attended her funeral
which was held here yesterday.
