Mrs. Montgomery had been critically ill for several days, and for a while there was strong hope of her recovery as she bravely and continuously battled for her life, but notwithstanding the best medical aid obtainable, the constant attendance of a skilled trained nurse and the loving solicitude of a devoted husband and anxious friends and relatives, the body which had been preyed upon for the past several days at last yielded to the stern messenger of death. Mrs. Montgomery was, not only a woman of prepossessing appearance, but was the embodiment of those noble traits of character and sweetness of disposition and Christian fidelity which won for her a place in the church, in the neighborhood and the home circle which becomes an irreparable loss. She was not only a member of the Methodist church, but a devoted follower of her risen Lord and daily exemplified in her life the saving principles of the gospel of the Son of God. In the dual relationship of mother and stepmother and that of wife, she was loving, true and devoted and ever responsive in love and loyalty to the brokenhearted husband whose heart is bleeding at every pore. Besides her husband, she leaves a son, by former marriage and a number of relatives and friends to mourn the loss of this pure Christian wife, mother and friend. Her remains were interred in the cemetery near Pine Level church last Monday, Rev. M.T. Gaultney officiating.
