His remains were tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery at Pine Level church Thursday morning, Nov. 21st, a very large gathering of sorrowing friends attended the funeral service which was conducted by Rev. J.T. Adams. On account of serious illness herself the grief-stricken wife was unable to attend the funeral. In the death of Mr. Montgomery, Mauk and surrounding community has suffered a very heavy loss, as he was, though comparatively a young man, one of the most public-spirited and enterprising citizens and farmers of that portion of the county. It is indeed sad to give up one of our friends who was of his disposition. His death has brought the bitter cup of sorrow to the lips of many friends and relatives. We will miss his kindly smiles and friendly greetings, and long again to feel his genial presence, but will bow in humble submission to the will of the All Wise Father, who knoweth and doeth all things for the best. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Montgomery, and besides these and a large number of other relatives he is survived by a devoted wife and two small children, to all of whom are extended the sympathy of the entire community.
