Hill vjbhill@alltel.net November 25, 2003, 8:26 pm Taylor County Herald, April 9, 1925 FUNERAL OF MR. B. P. LIPSEY WAS HELD HERE TUESDAY After an illness of about four years from paralysis, Mr. B. P. (Burrel) Lipsey, passed away at St. Joseph Hospital, Savannah, at 3:30 a.m. Monday. The body was brought to Butler, his old home, and laid to rest beside the wife who died in October, 1921, the funeral taking place Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, services being conducted by Rev. J. D. McCord. Those coming with the remains from Savannah were Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Lipsey, and Mr. J. W. Lipsey, the former a brother and the latter a son of the deceased. Mr. Lipsey, who was in the 69th year of his age was born and reared in Taylor County the son of G. J. Lipsey. As a resident of this community he was well known and a man of great influence, standing for that which was for the best interest and upbuilding of his community. He had been a member of the Baptist Church for a number of years, his membership being at the Calvary Baptist Church, Savannah. Leaving Butler, to the regret of his many friends here, Mr. Lipsey moved to Brunswick in 1886, thence to Savannah, where he resided for the past 20 years, during which time, rather until his health failed him he was an employee of the Central Railroad. Being what the Christian calls a "good man," there is consolation for his relatives and friends that his body now sleeps beside his devoted dwife in his old home city that he never forgot or failed to be deeply interested in. Mr. Lipsey is survived by two sons, Mr. J. W. Lipsey, of Savannah; and Mr. L. P. Lipsey, of Miami, Fla; one brother, Mr. J. B. Lipsey, of Savannah; and two sisters, Mrs. M. J. Jones, of Geneva; and Mrs. Ella E. Edwards, of Columbus. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral besides those named above were: Messrs, Paul Lipsey and Leonard Jones, of Albany, Burrel Jones, of Geneva; Mr. and Mrs.Richard Jones and daughters, Misses Thelma and Eunice; Mrs. Dora Williamson, and Mrs. Arch McCrary, of Columbus.
