Chrithers*, who for many years was a citizen of Butler, died at his home in Fort Valley at 12 o’clock on Thursday the 14th inst. He had been in ill health for several months, but he bore his afflictions with Christian fortitude. Mr. Carithers was 54 years of age and had been a consistent member of the Methodist church from his earliest recollections. He was a kind husband, devoted father, a good neighbor, a useful citizen and Christian gentleman whose life is worthy of emulation. He leaves a devoted companion, four children, besides many friends and relatives to mourn their loss. His remains were interred in the family burying ground at the old Corbin homestead on Friday last. To the bereaved family the sympathy of our entire community is extended. *Note – the last name Carithers, is spelled two ways in this notice. I do not know which is the correct spelling.
