Walker, of Butler died at the home of her daughter in Atlanta last Tuesday where she had recently gone for a visit. Mrs. Walker came to Butler in early life as the consort of Dr. John Walker and during her long pilgrimage here she won for herself a host of friends. She was a woman of deep thought refined and cultured and kept up with the issues of the day. She was also a bible student and while she had not attached herself to any branch of the Christian church, yet the well-worn pages of her Bible gave evidence of her faith in the Son of God and a blest immortality beyond the grave. Her life was an exemplary one and for guilelessness and evenness of temper. The average church member could well pattern after her. Mrs. Walker was a resident of Butler for over forty years, she being 74 years old at the time of her death. She is survived by her only sister, Mrs. Susan Harris Scandrett and by her only child, Mrs. Palmer S. Awtrey, and the following grandchildren: Rev. Hugh Snead Wallace, of Sweetwater, Tenn.; John L. Wallace, of New York; W.W. Wallace, of Atlanta; Miss Pearl Wallace and Miss Phillip Awtrey of Butler; besides a number of great grandchildren. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Z.T. Weaver, of Reynolds. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 1.9 Kb
