A few days ago Aunt Nancy suffered the rupture of a blood vessel of the head, the cause of which is unknown. Her physical condition was so greatly weakened by the loss of blood, which continued for days to drip from her head she was not able to withstand the strain, and quietly breathed her last Sunday night. In her humble, unique life Aunt Nancy was held in high esteem among a very large number of friends in this city and section. Miss Callie Stringfield, a niece, was her constant guardian and protector and her faithfulness to this good woman because of the bond of affection that existed between them, has won for herself much praise. She especially has the sympathy of friends in this bereavement. The deceased had for years been a consistent member of the Methodist church and as long as she was able was a regular attendant at all services. The body was laid to rest yesterday afternoon in the cemetery near the Methodist church. The services were conducted by Rev. E.W. Anderson. A well-spent life has been closed on earth, truly a good woman called to her eternal reward. To the bereaved ones, their many friends extend sympathy. The Butler Herald Tuesday, December 19, 1911 Page Three Local Paragraphs By virtue of a will made by Aunt Nancy Stringfield some time ago, Miss Callie Stringfield will come into possession of her residence, we are pleased to learn, and will continue to make it her home. Mrs. Price Stringfield, who has been making her home at Macon will live with Miss Callie in the future. The Butler Herald Tuesday, January 9, 1912 Page Three Card of Thanks We desire to thank the people of Butler and community for their many acts of kindness shown us during the recent illness and death of our dear aunt, Miss Nancy Stringfield. Miss Callie Stringfield and Brothers The Butler Herald Tuesday, January 23, 1912 Page Three Stringfield Miss Nancy Stringfield was born in South Carolina January 1st, 1816 and died in Butler, Ga., Dec. 17, 1911, being nearly 96 years of age. When about twenty years old, she gave her heart to God and consecrated her life to her blessed Savior, uniting with the Methodist church. The writer was her pastor for two years 1904-1905 at Butler. I called to see her often and after reading a lesson and singing a song “How Firm A Foundation” or “Where Jesus Is ‘Tis Heaven”, her face would shine with the radiance of heaven, because the love of God was shed abroad in her heart. She often had a foretaste of the joys in the Celestial City. As she grew in years, she grew in grace, was ripe and ready for the summons when it came, saying, “The Lord’s will be done.” She was a pilgrim here, her conversation was in Heaven. She had checked through to her Heavenly home. A few months before her departure she had some bright visions and wonderful revelations, as earth was receding and Heaven was in full view, her precious Savior appeared to her as the chiefest among ten thousand and altogether lovely. Her niece was with her to the last. Nothing could be more beautiful and sublime than her devotion to her. Heaven will richly reward her. Yes, “Aunt Nancy” as she was called, is at rest in Heaven.
