He has been prominent in local and county affairs for years and his death is deeply deplored. Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. Owing to the hour when the news of Mr. Anglin’s dearth was received at this office a suitable tribute to his memory is deferred until on next issue. The Butler Herald Tuesday, March 5, 1912 Page Three Robert Anglin In last week’s issue of the Herald we noted the death of Mr. Robert Anglin, which occurred as we were going to press, and did not have time to give but a passing notice. Mr. Anglin had been nearly a life-long resident of this county, and during his life with us he so conducted himself in his dealings with his fellowman that he had the confidence of all with whom he came in contact. He held the office of Constable for 40 years, and while he had but little education, yet by some intuition and close attention to the business placed in his hands he made but few mistakes. You would always find him on the safe side of a legal proposition, and was prompt in making settlement of all monies collected. Mr. Anglin was also Marshal of the town at the time of his death, which office he had held with credit to himself and benefit to the town, and met the duties and obligations of the office fearlessly and at the same time in a conservative manner. His place will be hard to fill. As a neighbor and a citizen he was kind and obliging, ready and willing at all times to help and aid those in distress. Mr. Anglin’s remains were interred in the cemetery at Bethel church near Butler last Wednesday morning, the funeral service being conducted by Rev. J.T. Adams who spoke truthfully of the many good traits of character, as evidenced in the life of Mr. Anglin. Mr. Anglin leaves one son and daughter, namely: W.A. Anglin, of Butler and Mrs. Lee Mitchell, of Shellman, Ga., besides a number of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. The Butler Herald Tuesday, March 19, 1912 Page Three Card of Thanks We most heartily thank our friends who so generously ministered unto our father, Mr. Robert Anglin, in his recent illness and who furnished willing hands and tenderest sympathy in the final preparation for his eternal sleep. Respectfully, Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Anglin This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 3.0 Kb
