Carter Mr. B.W. Carter, for the past thirty years a resident of Butler and Taylor County, died at his home in this city about four o’clock Saturday afternoon and was buried Sunday afternoon in the Baptist cemetery here following an impressive funeral service at the house by Rev. A.B. Peed. Mr. Carter had just passed over his 59th birthday and died one day after the 24th anniversary of his married life. He was looked upon as an eccentric gentleman in some of his modes of thinking and living, but his uniqueness of character did not affect his high principles of honesty and integrity. He was as honorable and honest in all business relations as was ever credited to man. He made this principle one of the chief characteristics in life never asking for or accepting credit from any man. For many years he was a member of the Methodist church at Carsonville, studied the scriptures and practiced its teachings to a rigid ruling, but for reasons peculiar to himself had withdrawn his name from the church register, but never did he give up his hope in God, though his faith in men as he applied the rules was considerably shattered. Mr. Carter was an economist and of his earnings whether great or small, made a savings accordingly and left to his widow a sum sufficient to sustain her comfortably the remaining years of her life. He had no children and is survived only by the wife, one brother, Rev. W.C. Carter, of Powersville, and a few relatives. But be it said to his memory that hundreds of friends will mourn his demise. Out of town relatives attending the funeral Sunday were: Rev. and Mrs. W.C. Carter, of Powersville, Mr. and Mrs. A.M. Carter and grandson and Mr. A.M. Carter, Jr., of Reynolds. The sympathy of the entire town is extended to Mrs. Carter in this her hour of saddest bereavement. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.4 Kb
