Hill. Miss Hill passed from earth to the glory land on Aug. 25th, dying at the home of her aunt, Miss L.E. Duke, near Rupert, after an illness of fourteen weeks. She was a consistent member of the Methodist church at Junction City and the good seed she sowed will bear abundant fruit for the Master. To mourn her death are left father, mother, four brothers and two sisters besides many friends and relatives. The remains were interred at the family burial ground near Rupert with appropriate funeral service by Rev. W.H. Emerson. The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 17, 1912 Page Three In Memory of Miss Alice Coline Hill On the 25th of August the death angel visited the home of Mr. J.B. Hill and family and took from him his dear and beloved daughter. She would have been 21 years old October 27 and was just in her youthful bloom of life when God called her home to bask with Him forever more. Alice Coline joined the Methodist church 3 years ago and was a Christian girl, was a kind and loving daughter, kind to everybody. It mattered not what anyone would say about her, she would say, it does not hurt me, God will see it all weighed. About a month and a half before she died she prayed for all her friends and enemies and said that God would forgive them for all their angry ways towards her. She was sick three months and two weeks before she died. On Saturday morning one week before she died she called her sister and someone asked her what she wanted and she said I want Attis, as loud as she ever spoke and that was the last words her sweet lips ever uttered in this world of unknown sorrow. She passed away on Sunday evening about six o’clock. Her remains were laid to rest in the family cemetery, funeral service conducted by Rev. Will Emerson in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. She had many relatives and friends who came to see her during her sickness and when they would ask her how she was feelings she would say, I feel very well; she never complained through all of her suffering. She has gone home to God to receive the crown she has won. It was hard, so hard for us to give her up. She leaves to mourn her death a father, mother, two sisters and four brothers besides numbers of relatives and friends. Written by her Sister The Butler Herald Tuesday, September 24, 1912 Page Three Obituary In loving memory of Emma Alice Hill*, born October 27th, 1892; died August 25, 1912, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Hill, a consistent member of the Methodist church. Rev. Mr. Sorrell was pastor at the time she joined, afterwards moved her membership to Charing Methodist Church. She lived and walked upon the heights where her heart and life were illuminated by love for her loved ones and friends which was reflected in her cordial, friendly greeting and smiles and her golden deeds of charity. Alice held the highest esteem and respect of her friends. Those who knew her well held her in affectionate regard. The world is better for her having lived in it. Such a life dispels the gloom of the final hour and lights the way to the great beyond. The memory of Alice will be loved and cherished. Peaceful be thy silent slumber, Peaceful in thy grave so low, There no more will join our number, There no more our sorrow know. Yet again we hope to meet thee, When the day of life is fled, And in Heaven with joy to meet thee, Where no farewell tears are shed. By Request, W.H. Emerson * The deceased’s name in the article written by her sister differs from this obituary. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 4.3 Kb
