Gholson Mrs. Hester Gholson, the devoted wife of Justice J.W. Gholson, of Carsonville, died at the home of her husband about 8 o’clock Sunday night after an illness of eight months or more from typhoid fever. Mrs. Gholson was about 61 years old and one of the most highly respected ladies of her community, loved by all for the many noble qualities embodied in her exemplary Christian character. Mrs. Gholson had been a member of Antioch Baptist Church for more than thirty years, and her life was replete with acts of Christian love and sympathy. Mrs. Gholson before her marriage was Miss Hester Perkins, sister of Mr. E.C. Perkins of this county. Thirty-five years or more years ago she was happily married to Judge Gholson and from this happy and congenial union six children were born, who, with their father survive her. Of these children there are three daughters and three sons, namely: Misses Lucy, Edna, Mary; Messrs. Clyde, Harvey and Jeff. The funeral and interment occurred at Union cemetery Monday afternoon at three o’clock, a large crowd of sorrowing friends being present to pay their tribute of last respect. An impressive funeral service was conducted by her pastor, Rev. M.T. Gaultney. The bereaved husband, children and relatives have the deepest sympathy of the Herald and people generally.
