Rodgers, Wife of Mr. W. Riley Rodgers On Sunday afternoon Aug. 3, the death angel visited the home of the late W.R. Rodgers and took from it, the beloved mother, she had been sick several weeks but we thought she was improving, when she fell asleep, never to awake again. We knew her to be always kind and loving to all she knew and especially was she in her home, with her children, where she always loved to be; a sweet and noble woman in every way, she numbered her friends by her acquaintances. We miss so much the words, and loving sympathy to every one for to us she was always so dear. Mrs. Rodgers spent her entire life around Potterville and was well known by us all and has been appreciated by all who knew her well. Her beautiful untiring life of living for others was practiced in the home with her devoted children, and we know what a great loss they suffer. Our hearts go out to them in their sad hours. But be brave children, loved ones, for the Lord gave and the Lord taketh away. Let us always try to be patient, loving, kind and gentle as she has always been to everyone. She lived a long and happy married life, and had six devoted children to bless her home. She was sixty-nine years of age when she passed away. Her husband, Mr. W.R. Rodgers left us last Sept. 27 – He too, was loved by all. We loved her, yes, we loved her, But Jesus loved her more, And He has sweetly called her, To yonder shining shore. The golden gates were open, a gentle voice said come. And with farewell unspoken, She calmly entered home. The children who survive her are: Mrs. J.G. Bullock, Claude Rodgers of Macon, Annie Rodgers, Amos R., Will F. and Lee Rodgers, all of Reynolds. Additional Comments: Note: This family's surname appears in various records as either Rodgers or Rogers. I'm unsure of the correct spelling.
