In Memoriam

William David, eldest son of W.C. and A.L. Byrd was born August 12th 1887 and 
died November 2nd 1889, after a short illness of three days.  Thus in that 
brief time how great the change can be, how soon the bright horizon of life may 
be obscured by dark and almost impenetrable clouds of sorrow.  How soon the 
joyous, glad light of the household may be veiled in sadness.  And the heart 
and soul that were inflated with a bright prospect for future happiness made to 
bleed at every pore.  The fond hope of a mother’s heart blighted.  The bright 
anticipations that gilded a father’s life, so soon darkened.  So it was, so it 
is, with the home of brother and sister Byrd.  Loving hearts, gentle hands and 
professional aid did all that was possible to stay the approach of death, but 
all in vain.  His remains were interred in the cemetery at Crowell’s.  A large 
crowd of sympathizing friends being present.  The funeral services were 
conducted by Rev. J.T. Adams.

May God in His infinite love, aided by His spirit help the parents and loved 
ones reach the light which shines so brightly in the window of heaven for them.
