Harmon Mr. Joseph R. Harmon, familiarly known to his many friends as Mr. Riley Harmon, died last night about eight o’clock at his (paper blurred) Butler after an illness of (paper torn) few days with erysipelas, (paper torn) stricken the latter part of (paper blurred – probably last week) week when the disease which resulted in his death developed (paper blurred) his nose and spread rapidly covering the entire face, the (paper blurred) and breast. During the past (paper blurred) days it was understood that his chances were slim, but everything possible was done for him all to no avail. Mr. Harmon was the youngest son of the late James T. Harmon who for several years was clerk of the Superior Court of Taylor County, and Mrs. Anna M. Harmon. He was born in this county November 15, 1860, and was about ten years ago happily married to Miss Mattie Ham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bart Ham, formerly of this county, who with one son, Jamie Harmon, age seven years, are left to mourn his death. Besides his immediate family, Mr. Harmon is survived by four brothers and two sisters as follows: Messrs. James K.P., of LaGrange; J.L., of Milledgeville; L.M., W.J. and H.H. Harmon, of this county; Mrs. G.W. Locke, of Schley County and Mrs. W.W. Cox, of near (paper torn) ler (probably Butler). Mr. Harmon was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, his membership being at Bethel, a consecrated Christian gentleman in the full application of that term, his life as he lived it in his business and the social mingling with his friends evidencing his abiding faith in God. Besides engaging in farming Mr. Harmon has been in the warehouse business in Butler during the past several years and was successful in both undertakings. He will be missed not only in his home, but from his church, his business and in his pleasant places of visiting carrying with him in these places at all times a sunshiny disposition and a word of encouragement for everyone. Funeral services and the interment of the remains of Mr. Harmon will occur tomorrow morning at ten o’clock at Bethel church and cemetery. To the bereaved widow and little son, and other loved ones, we tender our sincere sympathy. This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.8 Kb
