W.L. Griffith, will regret to learn of his death which sad event occurred at his home in Butler after a long and troublesome illness of consumption on Tuesday evening the 28th day of April. His death was no surprise, but rather expected for several weeks past, still it was sad news to our entire community. Mr. Griffith was in the 43rd year of his age, the greater portion of whose life had been spent in the service of his Master. For the past ten years he had labored earnestly in the West Texas Conference where he had accomplished much good and made many warm friends. About the first of January last he returned to his home in Butler and was soon after appointed superintendent of the Methodist Sunday School. Too much cannot be said of his life and character as a Christian gentleman, but as time and space is short, we leave this task to a more competent pen, feeling that our loss is his eternal gain. A devoted wife and large family of children, most of whom are of a tender age, besides many friends and relatives are left to mourn their loss. His remains were interred at Crowell’s church on Wednesday afternoon, at which a large number of friends were present; the funeral services being conducted by Rev. M.B. Ferrell.
