Mr. Whittle was in the 84th year of his age and had been a citizen of Taylor County for at least 40 years and was therefore one of its earliest settlers. He was the father of 11 children, nine of whom, together with a large number of grandchildren and many friends are left to mourn their loss. Mr. Whittle was confined to his room for several weeks, but during his illness he manifested a life fully resigned to the will of God and left a bright hope of his welfare in a world to come. He was honest and careful in his dealings and left the world free from the contaminating influence of debt. His remains were interred in the cemetery at Union church on Wednesday.
