Windham, and daughter of James and S.A. Daniel, was born in Taylor County, Ga., July 22, 1866, and married Mr. C.A. Windham Nov. 12, 1884 and peacefully passed away August 22, 1892. The lines between these dates tell of a life flushed with hope and anticipations for the future. Many aches, pains, cares and anxious thoughts incidental to motherhood. Many days, weeks and months of patient, uncomplaining suffering, ere she was called to the bright mansions above. Sister Aurelia in the cleverest, highest sense, was a true type of womanhood. As a basis she had a fine native intellect, with the acquired benefit of a good education from the B M & F College and from infancy until marriage that careful training and continuous instruction which only a true Christian mother can give. It is no wonder that life found her well prepared to meet its grave responsibilities, assume its obligations, and scatter bright rays of sunshine in the little world in which she moved. Her life as a daughter was a living benediction to her father and mother, appreciating as a daughter should, the unceasing love and care bestowed on her by her parents. And as a sister, the sweet, loving and obliging disposition that characterized her association can never be fully known without unlocking the sacred chambers of their souls and seeing how much they loved her. She was a true wife, faithful to every trust reposed. But if possible her affections nestled more closely and her interest more keenly manifest in the present welfare and future destiny of those two bright eyed boys and sweet little girl whom God had give her as a prestige in this life. Her mind dwelt much upon the proper training of those children. And from her well selected stock of reading she had culled many precious gems, which with valuable books she was safely preserving for the benefit of her children. How my heart in tenderness and sympathy goes out to and for those children deprived of a mother’s love, a mother’s care, a mother’s anxiety. No other smile so sweet, so heavenly, as that of a mother. No other voice sounded in lullaby or spoken in endearing words have the music or melody of a mother’s. No other hand can have the softness and tenderness of feeling that is found in the touch of a mother’s. But the mother is gone, her place will never be filled. Yet she left a rich legacy in true Christian fortitude, bearing through long weary months the cross of suffering, uncomplainingly, submissively, perfectly resigned to the will of her Heavenly Father. But the cross has been exchanged for a crown of glory. She leaves a father, mother and three sisters whose hearts are bowed with grief. Also three precious little children whose loss is irreparable for they will never know a mother’s love. With a multitude of friends to mourn the departure of this loved one. May God cover the defenseless heads of those motherless children with the wings of His tender love. J.T.
