Ingram, near Reynolds, on Monday evening, the 24th of Oct., occurred the death of Mr. J.H. Giles, of Toronto, Can., after an illness of seven days from malarial fever. Mr. Giles was about 24 years of age, a clever, kind-hearted and industrious gentleman. For the past eight months Mr. Giles had been in the employment of the Central railroad and had charge of the construction train in the building and repairing of bridges, etc. and while being exposed at this work he contracted this disease. The symptoms of the disease lingered around him for several weeks, but having a strong will and determination, and being in a strange land far from home and mother, he bore his afflictions until his feeble frame could no more resist the disease. He had every care and attention that could possibly be given by the physicians and citizens of Reynolds but despite their efforts he laid aside the toils of life, he folded his arms and he rests in peace. His brother-in-law, Mr. C.A. Wilson, editor of the North, South, East and West Ender, published at Toronto arrived on Thursday and had the remains carried to the home of Mr. Giles, at Toronto. He leaves a widowed mother, whom he had been laboring to support, besides two sisters and many friends to mourn their loss. They have the sympathy of this community in their sad bereavement.
