On last Saturday evening at 6 o’clock, Miss Maude Newsom, one of the most 
cultured young ladies in this community died after a short illness.  She was 
buried at New Hope church Sunday evening, surrounded by a large number of 
sympathizing friends and relatives, Rev. J.T. Mims conducting the funeral 
exercises.  The family have the sympathies of the entire community.
