Died

Miss Julia McCants, daughter of Mr. J.G. McCants, died at the home of her 
parents at 6 o’clock p.m. on Sunday last.  She was taken seriously ill on 
Thursday with fever and rapidly grew worse until relieved by the angel of death 
as the sun sank in the west on Sunday evening.  She was about 16 years of age 
and was just entering young womanhood when called to be with the saints above.  
She was one of the brightest, most affectionate, kind and loving hearts in the 
community in which she lived; with her schoolmates she was a special favorite 
and was loved by all who knew her.  Many hearts are made sad at her death.  The 
funeral services took place at Union church of which she was a member on Monday 
evening, conducted by Rev. J.T. Mims.  The parents have the sincere sympathy of 
many friends and relatives in their sad affliction.


Additional Comments:
Note: There is a memorial article written about Julia McCants in the Oct. 31st 
issue of the Herald on page three.  The article was written by her pastor, J.M. 
Boland, and states “Julia C. McCants was born March 29th, 1879.  She was a 
member of the church three years and a few days having joined my ministry in 
September 1890.  No one ever doubted her conversion, for she lived a beautiful 
and consistent Christian life until she crossed over the river to rest under 
the shade of the trees.  She was raised a Christian – having been brought up in 
the nurture and the admonition of the Lord.”
