Death of Mrs. Stokes

Our community was made to feel sad at the announcement of the death of Mrs. 
Tabitha J. Stokes, which sad event occurred at the residence of Mr. J.W. 
McCrary on Wednesday morning the 14th inst. after a short but painful illness.  
Mrs. Stokes was 61 years of age, a member of the Missionary Baptist church and 
a lady thoroughly consecrated to the service of the Master.  She was loved by 
all who knew her; her labors both in church and in society will be sadly 
missed.  She was the mother of Mrs. J.W. McCrary and Mr. J.G. Stokes, besides 
several other children and many friends and relatives to mourn their loss.  Her 
remains were carried to Buena Vista and interred in the cemetery at that place 
by the side other loved ones on Thursday.
