She was born in South Carolina January 1798 and died April 8, 1894, age ninety-six years and three months. She had been a consistent member of the Primitive Baptist church for seventy years and was a lady wholly consecrated to the service of the Master. She was buried at Bethlehem the day following her death. She has been called by an all wise and loving Father from the busy turmoil of earth. Her body slumbers in the grave, but her pure, gentle spirit has “returned to the God who gave it,” to rest in Paradise until the resurrection morn, when the grave shall give up the dead, and shall be resurrected to newness of life to meet the blessed Son of God, in whom she trusted for salvation, and who hath declared “she is not dead but sleepeth.” “O grave, where is thy victory?” Thanks be to God, our hearts though torn by the separation, through faith exclaim, “The Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord!” In the “sweet bye and bye” we hope to meet her on that shore, in a land where there will be no sorrow, pain, nor death, and where God shall wipe away all tears.
